Black and White

datePosted on 18:56, March 24th, 2008 by Many Ayromlou

So I finally got around to try my hand at Digital B&W — shots taken in colour originally, then converted to B&W — and I have to admit that I’ve really enjoyed it. Not quite the old film experience (I think it might have something to do with the missing odours :-) ), but it’s pretty cool nevertheless. Here is a sampling of our Film Noir style shoot from last Thursday night at the studio. You can have a look at the complete set here.

Who needs a Digital Picture Frame…..

datePosted on 23:01, March 13th, 2008 by Many Ayromlou

Just hop on over to piclens.com and grab their Firefox/IE plugins (OSX, WinXP/Vista) and start enjoying your online pictures again. This little gem works with either browser (and pretty much all the derivatives…..ie: Flock, Bonecho, etc.) and will totally knock your socks off. Just install it, go to a random flickr page (or one of the other services they support) and press the little blue play button in the address bar area or on the actuall pictures…..It even supports the little mac remote……Now I have a excuse to buy that mac mini :-)

Black or White?

datePosted on 17:05, March 7th, 2008 by Many Ayromlou

Here are two new shots I’ve been working on. I personally like the light-field version (white background). Although the black does have a certain sexyness to it…..what do you think?

Well generally I like any beer, even the bad ones :-) , but Guinness is the nectar of gods (imho). So here is my homage to Guinness and a couple of other cans from my fridge.

After coming across this post over at strobist and picking up a copy of “Light, Science and Magic”, I started to play around with some light-field concepts. Here are some of the results….

Flickr here I come….

Margins and Indents
Okay, so over the last few weeks I’ve set my CC card on fire and built a small photo studio at home. So from now on you’ll find out more about my other hobby on nerdlogger as well, Photography. Maybe I’ll register photologger.com or something once I accumulate enough studio shots. As always my travel photography is hosted separately here as a result of their sheer size. Here is post #1 – A really old (and bloody heavy) IBM typewriter my folks have at home. It’s broken, but is kinda cool in a nostalgic way.

TwitterVision/FlickrVision

datePosted on 16:54, February 24th, 2008 by Many Ayromlou

If you’re a twitter nut — not that there is anything wrong with that — or are just plain bored, head over to Twittervision, a real-time geographic visualization of posts to Twitter. It’s all thanks to google’s open API (thanks guys/gals……you ROCK!!!). It’s kinda cool to have it opened — specially in 3D mode — on a large panel. Kinda makes you feel like the “Big Guy Upstairs”, listening to peoples “prayers”. Also check out flickrvision, which does for flickr what twittervision does for twitter…..I like it better.

Flickrize your Desktop

datePosted on 09:30, August 31st, 2007 by Many Ayromlou

Desklickr is my latest obsession. Great little utility that grabs images from Flickr and constantly refreshes your desktop background. There is even a Desklickr group for people who don’t want to think too much. Just set it and forget it.
